CARROLLTON – The McCook House, 15 S. Lisbon St., will host a kids’ craft event on the patio at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Carroll County District Library. Reservations are required; call 330-437-9715 or 330-627-3345.

DOVER – The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum Emerging Professionals Committee will have a Yellowstone-themed gala, Cattle & Cowboys, for the museum’s biggest supporters on Saturday at the Tool Shed at Breitenbach Wine Cellars and Vineyards, 5934 Old Route 39 NW. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m., and will include a chuck wagon-themed buffet, live and silent auctions, a Yellowstone whiskey-bourbon tasting, and a 50/50 drawing.

A live auction will take place after dinner. Guests can visit the second floor of the Tool Shed to view the silent auction items and bid before the auction closes at 9:30 p.m.

DOVER − The Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., will hold a one-day discard sale from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Books, large print books, paperbacks, DVDs, audiobooks, computers, computer equipment, furniture and more will be available for purchase. Some nicer pieces will be available through silent-auction format. For more information, call the library at 330-343-6123.

The Book Cellar Bookshop, in the basement of the library and operated by the Friends of the Dover Public Library, will also be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A special Book Sale Preview Night for members of the Friends of the Library will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Members of the public can pick up a membership application at the library. All proceeds from the book sale benefit the Dover Public Library.

MINERVA – Downtown Minerva will host Nights on North Market on Friday, with live music, art, food and drink, and shopping. The Market Street Art Spot will host a reception from 5 to 9 p.m. featuring its Beyond Glass group exhibit of the work of Jennifer Collins, Hannah Greenbaum, and Anne Richeson Scanlon, live music by JT and Dave, and light refreshments.

West High Street will be the site of a popup pocket park for the evening with the Daniel Grey Trio playing 6 to 9 p.m. There will also be family games and activities, including a carnival game, a dunk tank, corn hole, giant Jenga, and a water balloon toss at 6 p.m.

Shops will be open late, and local crafters and vendors will be set up on High Street and in Minerva Perk’s Next Door. Ducks will be for sale for the Oktoberfest Roxy Theatre Duck Race, and there will be a kids’ movie in the theater at 7 p.m. The village’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect 5 to 10 p.m.

MINERVA − Stark Parks will offer Unloved Animals, at Minerva’s Municipal Park Stage, at 10:30 a.m. Friday to learn about some of Stark Parks underappreciated, live animal ambassadors. Do not bring dogs to the program, as they frighten the ambassador animals. Attendees should bring chairs or blankets to sit on. In case of rain, the program will be held at the Roxy Theatre.

A bike party will be Saturday, beginning and ending at Sandy Springs Brewing Company. The group will gather at 6 p.m. This is an all-ages, all-abilities recreational group bike ride.

SCIO – The 89th annual Scio Street Fair will be Wednesday through Saturday at the fire department parking lot and old school lot. The annual Kids 1 Mile Fun Run/Family Fun Walk and the annual Scio Scramble 5K Race/Walk will be Wednesday. Register at runsignup.com. Bands will perform on the main stage each evening.

Other festival attractions include a cornhole tournament, inflatables and rides, an exotic bird show, ax throwing, a pickleball tournament, an arm-wrestling contest, a duck race, karaoke contest, bingo, pet show, and flower and garden show. Wristbands are $12, and Saturday will be an all-day admission for $12.

The grand parade at 6:30 p.m. Friday will use the same route as last year. The annual Scio Show and Shine will start Saturday at Scio Community Park. Festival royalty will be crowned at 8 p.m. Saturday. The Scio Museum will be open 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday for viewing of Scio Pottery, Scio Memorabilia, Scio High School and Jewett-Scio High School Memorabilia.

WALNUT CREEK – The annual Operation Christmas Child Dinner on Aug. 19 at Carlisle Inn will feature Alex Nsengimana of Rwanda as the featured speaker.
